Professional Bio

Elisse Higginbotham lectures into the University of Western Australia Doctor of Optometry program, where she delivers pre-clinical skills teaching and patient care through the Paediatric and Myopia specialty clinics.  Passionate about improving patient care for young patients, and enthusiastic about developing the understanding of binocular vision in pre-reg and qualified optometrists, Elisse draws on her 20 years of experience of clinical practice, together with a strong understanding of the underlying evidence base, to provide clinically driven, case-based learning.

Her primary clinical interests are paediatric vision, especially strabismus and amblyopia, myopia management and visual perception.  Previously Lead Optometrist (Paediatric Services) at the Australian College of Optometry, she continues her commitment to public eye care through her work at EHCWA with refugee and aboriginal patients seen in collaboration with the Lion’s Inreach Vision Clinic.
