Dr Emily Woodman-Pieterse is a lecturer in Optometry and Vision Science at the Queensland University of Technology. Emily has a clinical, teaching, and research focus centred on myopia aetiology and control; combining her clinical experience and research expertise to develop and implement the first Australian university-based Myopia Clinic in 2015 at QUT.
Emily is the academic lead of both the Myopia Control Clinic and Therapeutics and Dry Eye Clinics within the QUT Optometry Clinic and delivers content into units that focus on ocular therapeutics, clinical practice, and myopia control. The success of these Clinics has allowed Emily to lead clinical research projects such as clinical trials investigating the effects of low dose atropine, and a multi-centre trial examining the influence of near work and outdoor activity on myopia control treatment efficacy.
Dr Woodman-Pieterse’s research has global reach, being highly cited in high-quality journals and presented and national and international scientific and clinical conferences. Throughout her career, Emily has been recognised with awards for her outstanding performance academically, clinically, as an educator, and a researcher.
