Day 2 - Session 5 - Myopia

Talk Description

Dr Emily Woodman-Pieterse presents on Mastering Myopia Management (INTERACTIVE)
Duration:
60 minutes

Synopsis: As myopia control increases in popularity with the optical industry, practitioners, patients and their parents; optometrists must stay up to date with the latest developments and evidence base. Crucially, optometrists need to understand how to measure and monitor myopia control “success” and identify when a patient may benefit from individual or combination myopia control therapies. Dr Emily Pieterse from the Queensland University of Technology Myopia Control Clinic will provide an overview of how to incorporate myopia control into your practice and expand the range of treatments available to your patients.

Learning Objectives

  1.  Receive a comprehensive overview of the current commercially available myopia control treatment options within Australia and beyond, including optical and pharmacological treatments.
  2. Understand how to identify which patients may benefit from dual therapy myopia control, where low dose atropine is used in conjunction with optical interventions.
  3. Explore behavioural modifications and smart device monitoring that can be used to enhance myopia control in your patients
