Professional Bio
SooJin Nam is a Sydney based optometrist who obtained her qualifications from the University of NSW in 2000. Shortly after qualifying she opened her first practice in the Sydney suburb of Broadway. This has grown to five locations with two optometry partners. Her practices have been recognised with multiple business awards. SooJin has a special interest in children’s vision, myopia control, strabismus, amblyopia was one of the early optometrists to implement ortho-k and myopia control.
She has also been a leader in adopting new technology. SooJin enjoys learning and improving her clinical skills – and has travelled extensively both nationally and internationally for continuing education. She uses this knowledge to improve the clinical protocols and service quality within her practices. Teaching is an important part of her optometry works and her knowledge and experience is shared at optometry events, in publications and through local community groups such as Probus and Rotary.
She was also previously a UNSW clinic supervisor. On a professional level SooJin works on various industry advisory panels and was previously a children's vision clinical supervisor at UNSW school of optometry. She has served as Treasurer for NSW/ACT Optometry Australia, Director of Eyecare Plus (head office), and is currently a member of the Australian Optometric Panel.
